
While some states (20!) have laws regarding children being left in vehicles, there is still a large amount that don't. While these states have legislation in place that allows a parent to be persecuted under child-endangerment statutes, these statutes leave room for wild interpretation.
A recent article on MotherJones.com informs which 20 states have current laws in place. Its author also outlines multiple incidents where parents have been arrested under child-abuse and endangerment charges, and whether the punishment truly fits the crime.
